Albany, NY
ALBANY, NY – An 18-year-old Albany woman has been charged with animal cruelty after an investigation revealed she left two cats in her car for several days on Livingston Avenue.
Yemeena Anderson was arrested following an investigation by investigators from the Special Operations Unit who are tasked with investigating complaints of animal cruelty.
An investigation into a complaint determined that on Saturday, December 10, 2022 around 2:05 p.m., Anderson left a six-month-old male kitten and a one-year-old female cat locked inside of her car on Livingston Avenue and Terminal Street for several days despite frigid temperatures. The investigation also revealed that both cats were dehydrated, malnourished and covered in both their own urine and feces.
Both cats were evaluated by a veterinarian at the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society where they currently remain.
Anderson was charged with two counts of Animal Cruelty and is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday, January 12th in Albany City Criminal Court.
