Three Charged with Handgun Possession Following Traffic Stop on Clinton Avenue

ALBANY, NY – Three Albany residents have been charged with weapons possession following a traffic stop Monday night on Clinton Avenue.

On Monday, May 1, 2023 around 10:30 p.m., an Albany police traffic investigator from the Special Operations Unit stopped a vehicle in the area of Clinton Avenue and North Lake Avenue for violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law including Unregistered Motor Vehicle and Improper License Plates. During the stop, officers also recovered two loaded 9mm handgun from the vehicles.

Passengers Omarr Martin, 20, of Albany and Murel Crawford, 28, of Albany, were each charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2^nd.

The driver, Daquella Darkins, 28, of Albany, was also charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2^nd. She was also cited for Uninspected Motor Vehicles, Unregistered Motor Vehicle, Improper License Plates and Operating Without Insurance.

All three were arraigned Tuesday morning in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
