Parolee arrested for stabbing man on Quail Street
ALBANY, NY – A 29-year-old Albany man currently under the supervision of New York State Parole has been charged in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred Friday on Quail Street.
Dayshon McKenzie was arrested following an investigation by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Unit.
On Friday, October 15, 2021 around 3:45 p.m., staff from Albany Medical Center Hospital notified police that a 35-year-old man had entered the emergency room with stab wounds to his chest and abdomen. Through investigation, it was determined that the victim sustained their injuries during an altercation in the area of Quail and Third Streets just prior to arriving at the hospital.
The victim is currently admitted at the hospital where he remains in critical condition.
McKenzie was later identified as a suspect in the stabbing incident and was taken into custody Monday morning by Albany police patrol officers in the area of Second Street and North Lake Avenue.
He has been charged with one count of Assault 1st. He was also arrested on a New York State Parole warrant.
In addition, McKenzie was arrested on the strength of an arrest warrant issued out of Albany City Criminal Court in reference to a domestic related assault that occurred back in September on Clinton Avenue.
On Friday, September 17, 2021 around 7:30 p.m., Albany police officers took a report of a domestic related incident that occurred in the area of Clinton and North Lake Avenues. During the incident, the victim reported that McKenzie grabbed her by the throat and slammed her up against a wall before applying pressure making it difficult for her to breathe. The victim also reported being punched about the body several times by McKenzie during the same incident.
