
Man Who Ran From Patrol Officers Found with Loaded Handgun and Drugs

A 22 year-old Albany man who ran from patrol officers is facing weapon and drug charges after he was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun and a quantity of narcotics Thursday on North Lake Avenue.
On Thursday, August 31, 2023 around 6:45 p.m., officers observed Jovonte Heard with an open container of alcohol while on a city street. Officers attempted to stop Heard for the open container where he ran from officers on foot but was quickly apprehended and taken into custody.
Heard, was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun.
In addition, he was found to be in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine, a quantity of fentanyl and a quantity of oxycodone pills.
Heard was charged with one count of Possession of an Alcoholic Beverage in an Open Container, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd, one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th, One count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th, one count of Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd and one count of Resisting Arrest.
He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
