Man Who Fired Handgun on Livingston Avenue Arrested

ALBANY, NY – A 41-year-old Albany man has been charged in connection with an incident of shots fired that occurred Thursday on Livingston Avenue.

On Thursday, May 11, 2023 around 1:00 a.m., officers responded to the area of Livingston Avenue and Thornton Street for reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers discovered evidence of gunfire and began to conduct an investigation.

Albany detectives were able to ascertain information and a description of the suspect which was quickly relayed to officers in the area. Shortly after, a patrol officer observed a man matching the description of the suspect on the 300 block of Livingston Avenue and stopped him as part of the investigation.

Through further investigation, it was determined that the suspect, Lajuan Morales, was responsible for the shots fired and had just fired at least two rounds from a handgun while in the area of Livingston Avenue and Wilkins Avenue. He was taken into custody.

Morales was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd and one count of Reckless Endangerment 1st.

He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
