Man Arrested for November 2021 Shots Fired Incident
A 36-year-old Albany man who fired several shots towards a group of people late last year on Broadway has been arrested.
Oliajuwon Timmons was arrested following an investigation by detectives from the Albany Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit and Community Response Unit.
On Friday, March 11, 2022 around 5:25 p.m., observed Timmons driving in the area of Third Avenue and Delaware Street and attempted to stop him in reference to an ongoing shots fired investigation. Timmons refused to stop his car and began to drive off at high rate of speed leading detectives in a vehicle pursuit that went west up Second Avenue. Detectives ultimately terminated the pursuit.
Shortly after, officers observed Timmons running on foot in the area of Delaware Avenue and Marinello Terrace where he was subsequently apprehended and taken into custody.
Timmons, who was also operating with a suspended driver’s license, was charged with Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer and Aggravated Unlicensed Operator 3rd. He was also cited for several violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
In addition, he was charged in connection with an incident of shots fired that occurred on Saturday, November 6, 2021 around 2:00 a.m. in the area of Broadway and Lawn Avenue. During that incident, officers responded to for reports of shots fired and upon arrival, located evidence of gunfire.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
Through the investigation, detectives determined that Timmons had fired several rounds from a 9mm handgun towards a group of vehicles and people who were in the area.
Timmons has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd and Reckless Endangerment 1st for his role in the November 2021 shots fired incident.
Timmons was arraigned Saturday morning in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
