Man Arrested for Burglary, Criminal Trespass Incidents at Center Square Homes

A 25-year-old Albany man has been charged in connection with a burglary and two incidents of criminal trespass at homes in Albany’s Center Square neighborhood.

On Friday, December 3, 2021 around 6:05 p.m., officers responded to a home on the 200 block of State Street between Dove and South Swan Streets for reports of a man attempting to gain entry into a residence. Upon arrival, the resident told officers that he observed a man on his third floor fire escape attempting to open a window. The suspect fled the scene upon being noticed by the resident inside.

Later that evening, around 11:50 p.m., the same resident notified police that the man had returned to his third floor fire escape and was again trying to gain entry to his home. The suspect fled the scene upon being confronted by the resident inside.

On Friday, December 28, 2021 around 5:20 a.m., officers responded to a home on the 100 block of Jay Street between Dove and South Swan Streets for reports of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, the victim told officers that a man had entered his residence through an unlocked door and stole money from a table inside. The suspect fled out the back door upon being noticed by the resident inside.

Malik Rozier was arrested following an investigation by detectives from the Albany Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit.

He has been charged with one count of Burglary 2nd and two counts of Criminal Trespass 2nd. Rozier was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
