Incident Involving Stolen Vehicle Currently Under Investigation
ALBANY, NY – On Monday evening, Albany police patrol officers observed a stolen vehicle traveling in the area of Lark Street and Manning Boulevard and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver of the stolen vehicle refused to stop for the officers and collided with a vehicle traveling at Northern Boulevard and Pennsylvania Avenue.
Despite being involved in a crash, the driver of the stolen vehicle continued to flee on Northern Boulevard to the area of Broadway and Lawn Avenue where they came to a rest near a building.
There were six individuals inside the car ranging from 13 to 15 years old.
Tragically, a 13-year-old boy from Albany who was a passenger in the stolen vehicle sustained serious injuries during the incident and was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The driver and other individuals in the stolen vehicle are in custody. The driver of the vehicle that was struck at Northern Boulevard does not appear to be injured. At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
