
Handgun Recovered in Domestic Related Incident

A 17-year-old Albany resident has been charged in connection with a domestic related menacing incident that occurred Monday afternoon on South Pearl Street.
On Monday, October 23, 2023 at around 1:15 p.m. officers responded to a home on the 600 block of South Pearl Street for reports of a person with a weapon. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a 19-year-old male who told them that while inside the residence he was menaced with a handgun. Through the investigation, detectives learned that the 17-year-old was the individual responsible in regards to the menacing and was taken into custody.
No injuries reported during this incident.
Furthering the investigation, detectives from the Children and Family Service Unit conducted a search warrant and located a loaded 9mm handgun.
The 17-year-old whose name will not be released due to his age was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd, one count of Criminal Possession of a firearm and one count of menacing 2nd.
He was arraigned in Albany County Family Court and Released.
