Handgun, Narcotics Located During Investigation on Southern Boulevard

ALBANY, NY – Albany detectives conducting a narcotics investigation on Southern Boulevard found a pair to be in possession of a loaded handgun and a quantity of narcotics.

On Tuesday, January 17, 2023 around 6:30 p.m., detectives from the Albany Police Department’s Community Response Unit took Jah-Laun McCall, 28, of Schenectady into custody as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation on Southern Boulevard between Delaware Avenue and McAlpin Street. During the investigation, McCall, who was the passenger of a vehicle, was found to be in possession of a loaded .40 caliber handgun and a quantity of both crack cocaine and fentanyl.

McCall was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd, one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd and one count of Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd.

The driver of the vehicle, Deanna Jackson, 31, of Colonie, was also taken into custody after the investigation revealed she was also in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine and fentanyl.

Jackson was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th, one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th and one Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd.

Both McCall and Jackson were arraigned Wednesday in Albany City Criminal Court.
