
Arrest made in July Shots Fired Incident
Albany, NY
A 29-year-old Albany man and a 16-year-old Troy resident have been charged in connection with a shots fired incident that occurred in July of 2023 in the area of South Pearl Street and Madison Avenue.
On Tuesday, July 25, 2023 around 6:40 p.m., officers responded to the area of South Pearl Street and Madison Avenue for reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers discovered evidence of gunfire and began to conduct an investigation.
Through their investigation, Albany detectives identified a 16-year-old suspect, and a 29-year-old suspect Jaimeir Smith in reference to the shots fired incident.
Smith has been charged with one count of Attempted Murder 2nd, one count of Hindering Prosecution 2nd and one count of Criminal Facilitation 2nd.
He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
The 16-year-old, whose name will not be released due to his age, has been charged with Attempted Murder 2nd and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd.
He was arraigned in Albany County Family Court and remanded to the Capital District Juvenile Secure Detention Facility.
