Arrest Made in Early Morning Stabbing
A 32-year-old Albany Woman has been charged in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred on Myrtle Avenue.
Iyana Evans was arrested following an investigation by members of the Albany Police Department.
On Monday, January 15, 2024 at around 7:40 a.m. officers responded to a residence on the 600 block of Myrtle Avenue for reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they located a 29-year-old man with a stab wound to his chest.
The victim was treated on scene by emergency medical personnel and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
Through their investigation, detectives determined that Evans stabbed the victim inside the residence during an altercation prior to police arrival.
The victim and the suspect are known to each other.
Evans was charged with one count of Attempted Murder 2nd and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd.
She is scheduled to appear in Albany City Criminal Court on January 16, 2024.
