
Arrest Made in Domestic Related Menacing Incident

A 44-year-old Albany man currently under the supervision of New York State Parole has been charged in connection with a domestic related menacing incident that occurred early Wednesday morning on Third Avenue.
On Wednesday, November 15, 2023 around 4:30 a.m., officers responded to a home in the area of Third Avenue and S. Hawk Street for a person with a weapon call. Upon arrival, officers were met by a female who told them that while inside her residence the suspect, Kareem Abdulbaqi began banging on her door to get in. Abdulbaqi produced a handgun in an attempt to intimidate and threaten her. Abdulbaqi was off scene at the time of police arrival.
No Injuries were reported during this incident
Kareem Abdulbaqi was in custody later that afternoon due to a violation of his parole.
Furthering the investigation, detectives from the Children and Family Service Unit conducted a search warrant at a residence in the area of Clinton Street and Fourth Avenue. During the search warrant, detectives recovered a loaded 9mm handgun.
He has been charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd, one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon Third, one count of Menacing 2nd and one count of Aggravated Criminal Contempt.
He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and Remanded to the Albany County Jail.
