Albany Resident Arrested on Grand Larceny Charges

A 57-year-old Albany resident has been charged in connection with receiving payments for a job he never completed.

On August 8, 2023, the Albany Police Department received a call from an individual alleging that Michael Matteo received payment for construction work that had not been completed. Through the investigation, detectives from the Albany Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit discovered that between June 21, 2022, through January 11, 2023, the victim paid Matteo approximately $138,000 for Matteo to renovate a residence in the City of Albany.  Matteo accepted payment, but never completed the work on the house. 

Matteo has been charged with one count of Grand Larceny 2nd .

Matteo is scheduled to be arraigned today in Albany City Criminal Court.
