Albany Police Recover Handgun Following South Pearl Street Shooting Incident
ALBANY, NY – A 39-year-old Albany man who was found with a loaded handgun following a shooting incident late Saturday night has been arrested.
Shiron Clayton was arrested Monday by detectives from the Albany Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit.
On Saturday, March 26, 2022 around 11:15 p.m., officers responded to the 600 block of South Pearl Street for reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located evidence consistent with a shooting incident and began to conduct an investigation.
Shortly after the call, staff from Albany Medical Center Hospital notified police that Clayton had just entered the emergency room with a gunshot wound to his arm. Detectives ultimately determined that Clayton sustained his injury while on South Pearl Street just prior to arriving at the emergency room.
Through further investigation, detectives recovered a loaded 9mm handgun from Clayton’s vehicle.
Clayton has been charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd.
He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
