Albany Police Officers Recover Loaded Handgun During Traffic Stop
Albany police patrol officers recovered a loaded handgun early Sunday morning following a traffic stop on Central Avenue.
On Sunday, January 9, 2022 around 1:15 a.m., patrol officers stopped a vehicle on Central Avenue near Manning Boulevard for a violation of the Vehicle and Traffic Law. During the stop, the driver was found to be operating his vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and was in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun.
Drayton Mills, 27, of Albany, was taken into custody and charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd, one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd and one count of Aggravated Unlicensed Operator 3rd. He was also cited for operating a vehicle with no tail lamps.
Mills was arraigned this morning and released after posting $20,000 bail.
