Albany Police Officers Recover loaded handgun and Drugs Following Traffic Stop

A 34- year-old Troy man has been charged with weapon possession and drug charges Monday evening on Orange Street.
On Monday, September 4, 2023 around 7:00 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on the 300 block of Orange Street in reference to a stolen vehicle investigation. During the traffic stop, the officers discovered that the driver Devere Williams was in possession of a loaded handgun.
In addition, he was found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine.
Williams was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd, one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd, one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd, one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd and one count of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle 3rd.
He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
