Albany Police Officers Recover Handgun, Drugs During North Pearl Street Domestic Incident

ALBANY, NY – Albany police officers responding to a domestic related incident late Saturday night recovered a loaded handgun and a quantity of narcotics.

On Saturday, April 9, 2022 around 11:25 p.m., officers responded to the area of North Pearl Street and Wilson Street for reports of a domestic related incident in which a woman was in possession of a handgun. Upon arrival, officers encountered 28-year-old Jameela Fredericks standing near the roadway holding a loaded handgun.

Officers ordered Fredericks to drop the gun which she complied. She was safely taken into custody and the loaded .380 caliber handgun she was holding was recovered. During her arrest, she also ingested several ecstasy pills that she had concealed inside her pants. Over 60 additional pills were discovered during the arrest.

Fredericks was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd and one count of Tampering with Evidence.

In addition, detectives from the Albany Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit executed a search warrant at 194 North Pearl Street in reference to the ongoing investigation. During the search warrant, detectives discovered additional quantities of ecstasy pills and cocaine.

The resident, 40-year-old Gregory Moore, was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd and one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th.

Following the search warrant, Fredericks was also charged with two additional counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd and one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th.

Moore was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.

Fredericks will be arraigned following a medical evaluation.
