
Albany Police Officers Arrest Parolee Who Was in Possession of Loaded Handgun

ALBANY, NY – A 26-year-old parolee who ran from Albany police officers on Clinton Avenue Sunday morning has been charged with illegally possessing a loaded handgun.
On Sunday, April 30, 2023 around 7:00 a.m., officers responded to the area of Clinton Avenue and Quail Street for reports of a man in possession of a handgun. Upon arrival, officers observed a man matching the description of the suspect and attempted to stop him as part of their investigation. As officers approached, the man ran from officers on foot but was apprehended on the 300 block of Central Avenue and taken into custody.
During the foot chase, the suspect, identified as Myaire Leigh, ran through a yard and threw a fanny pack that contained a loaded 9mm handgun.
Leigh has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd, Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd and Trespass.
He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
