A 17-year-old Albany resident has been charged in connection with a shooting that occurred Wednesday evening on South Pearl Street.

On Wednesday, September 27, 2023 around 7:50 p.m., officers responded to the 300 block of South Pearl Street for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 32-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
The victim was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital and is currently in stable condition.
Through the investigation, Albany detectives identified a 17-year-old male suspect in reference to the shooting and took him into custody Thursday afternoon in the City of Albany.
The suspect, whose name will not be released due to his age, has been charged with one count of Attempted Murder 2nd and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd.
He was arraigned in Albany County Family Court and remanded to Capital District Juvenile Secure Detention Facility.
